The 2nd grade students returned to our classmate Pablo Ilisei’s garden to see how the fruit trees and vegetables we planted last year were doing.
There were LOTS of trees bearing fruit: apples, plums, pears, peaches, quinces…!!!
Los alumnos de 2º de primaria hemos vuelto al huerto de nuestro compañero Pablo Ilisei para ver como estaban los árboles frutales y las hortalizas y verduras que plantamos el curso pasado.
¡¡¡Había muchísimos frutales con sus frutos: manzanas, ciruelas, peras, melocotones, membrillo…!!!
We also saw that our tomatoes and chard had grown a lot. The lettuce, cucumbers and beans were no longer there because they are harvested during the summer.
After seeing all these changes in the garden, Victor, our classmate’s dad, explained the three types of irrigation he uses in his garden: individual irrigation, drip irrigation and flood irrigation.
We picked cherry tomatoes. How delicious!
También hemos visto que nuestros tomates y acelgas había crecido muchísimo. Las lechugas, los pepinos y las habas ya no había porque se recogen durante el verano.
Después de ver todos estos cambios en el huerto, Víctor, el papá de nuestro compañero nos ha explicado los tres tipos de riego que utiliza en su huerta: riego individual, por goteo y por inundación.
Hemos recogido tomate Cherry ¡Qué ricos!
Of course, we couldn’t miss our lunch with bread, oil and tomatoes from the garden and apples for dessert. Yummy!
To end the visit, Pablo showed us a new rooster that has been in his henhouse for a short time. His name is MAPUCHE and he is very cute. The rooster is named after its breed, Mapuche Araucano. It is native to southern Chile and is a very old breed. The earliest records date back to approximately 1880.
The peculiarity of this breed is that they have feathered ears, the hens lay blue eggs and they are also characterised by not having a tail.
Por supuesto no podía faltar nuestro almuerzo con pan, aceite y tomates del huerto y de postre manzana. ¡Ñam, ñam!
Para acabar la visita, Pablo nos enseñó un gallo nuevo que lleva poquito tiempo en su gallinero, se llama MAPUCHE y es monísimo. El gallo se llama así porque su raza es Mapuche Araucano. Originario del sur de Chile. Es una raza muy antigua. Los primeros datos son de 1880 aproximadamente.
La peculiaridad es que tienen las orejas emplumadas, las gallinas de esta raza ponen los huevos azules y también se caracterizan por no tener cola.
