El pasado martes 4 de noviembre, los alumnos del ciclo de Laboratorio de Análisis y Control de Calidad tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar el Centro Nacional de Biotecnología (CNB), un centro de referencia asociado al Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).
On Tuesday, November 4th, the students of the Laboratory Analysis and Quality Control program had the opportunity to visit the National Center for Biotechnology (CNB), a leading research center associated with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
Esta actividad se enmarca dentro de la Semana de la Ciencia, una iniciativa que busca acercar la investigación y la innovación a los estudiantes, fomentando su curiosidad científica y el aprendizaje fuera del aula.
This activity was part of the Science Week, an initiative aimed at bringing research and innovation closer to students, encouraging scientific curiosity and learning beyond the classroom.
Durante la visita, asistimos a un taller sobre bioseguridad, en el que aprendimos la importancia de las normas y medidas que garantizan un trabajo seguro con microorganismos. Además, tuvimos la ocasión de recorrer las instalaciones del centro y conocer de cerca los diferentes niveles de contención biológica que se utilizan para manejar microorganismos patógenos de manera segura.
During the visit, we attended a biosafety workshop, where we learned about the importance of the rules and procedures that ensure safe work with microorganisms. We also had the chance to tour the facilities and observe the different biological containment levels used to handle pathogenic microorganisms safely.
La jornada incluyó también una visita al invernadero del CNB, donde descubrimos cómo se crean las plantas transgénicas, las técnicas empleadas para su modificación genética y las múltiples aplicaciones que tienen actualmente en investigación, agricultura y biotecnología. Comprendimos, además, la relevancia de mantener un estricto control y medidas de seguridad para evitar que estos organismos salgan al medio ambiente.
The day also included a visit to the CNB greenhouse, where we learned how transgenic plants are created, the techniques used for genetic modification, and the many applications of this research in agriculture and biotechnology. We also discussed the importance of strict safety measures to prevent these organisms from escaping into the environment.
Fue una experiencia muy enriquecedora que nos permitió acercarnos al trabajo científico real y comprender la importancia de la biotecnología y la bioseguridad en el mundo actual.
It was an extremely enriching experience that allowed us to get closer to real scientific work and to understand the significance of biotechnology and biosafety in today’s world.
