Project: Chocolate!

The 1st year students of Higher Technician in Kitchen Management have done a project based on the film called “Chocolat”, starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Deep. In the same way than in the film, they have created their own story, in which the main character is played by the chocolate. So, they have imagined the story and the recipe. Here there are some examples:

The discovery of Chocolate

In 1492, Mery came to America with Cristobal Colon. She stayed to study the culture of the continent inhabitants. They taught her their typical food, their dances and their ways of living.

One day, while she was walking through the jungle, something fell from a tree. It looked like a coconut. When she arrived the village, she opened the strange fruit and discovered a sweet substance inside.

She dedicated her studies to research what she called ”Chocolate”. She melted it mixing it with different flavors, herbs and spices. It was so great that when she returned to Spain, she took it her astonishment to continue researching.

She dedicated all her time to produce different products and marketing them all the world, becoming the most valued sweet in the world.

The little Julio

This is the story of Julio, a kid who hated the chocolate, he hated it, but he lives in a town where everyone always ate chocolate, at every meal. His family was so discontent with him because he was the black sheep of the family.

Julio’s favourite foods were steamed bread, lemons, and pop rocks. He wanted to eat this things all the time, his uncle Toni, who is the greatest chef in the town, realized this and he got so confused, how did his nephew not like chocolate? So he set out to get him to eat chocolate.

His inicial idea was to combine the favourite meals with chocolate and it ocurred to him to stuff the steamed bread with a creamy chocolate with pop rocks, and cover all of it with a lemon cream

He served this to his nephew. He was so stranged because there is chocolate, but his favourite meals too, so he was so confused… When he decided to taste it, he got so surprided because it was so good. The combination of the thing that he hated, with his favourite meals was spectacular for him.

Toni finally was so happy because his nephew wasn’t a black sheep anymore.

The fancy mousse

In a cozy café in El Ganso, Ramón meticulously crafted her famous chocolate mousse. It was so exquisite that customers lined up just to taste it. But among all the desserts, the mousse had a secret: it was alive!!

The mousse, named Pedro, longed to see the world beyond the counter.

One night, while the cafe was closed, Pedro decided to venture out. Stealthily he slipped out of his mold and through the window he went.

Pedro explored the streets of El Ganso in awe, marveling at the darkness and the aromas of the town. However, his journey soon turned perilous when a wolf began to chase him. Pedro hid in a dark alley, trembling with fear.

Luckily, a young pastry chef named Ramiro happened to pass by the alley and heard Pedro’s whispers. With tenderness, he scooped him up and brought him back to the café. Fascinated by his story, Ramiro decided to help Pedro fulfill his dream of seeing the world.

Together, they traveled through the town, visiting the taverns, enjoying the landscapes and meeting new people. Pedro discovered the field of sunflowers, the Indi camp and Ramiro’s house. They encountered the grandmothers of the town and the animals who lived within it.

But the more they traveled, the more Pedro missed his home in the café. Despite all the wonders he had seen, his place was alongside Ramón and his delicious creations. With a heart full of gratitude, Pedro returned to the café, where he was welcomed with joy.

From that day on, Pedro lived happily in the café, sharing his adventures with the other desserts. Although he cherished his memories of travel, he knew that there was no place like home. And so, the living mousse found his true destiny among the cozy walls of a café in El Ganso.

Broken crumbled love

Once upon a time there was a chocolate cookie called Bombi, which was in the window of a bakery, in a small town Called “El Hoyuelo”.
One day he noticed another beautiful cookie called Bell, which was in the window of the pastry shop across the street.
Bambi realized that he had fallen in love with Bella but it was an impossible love since they could never be together since they belonged to different worlds.
One day they held a charity event for all the pastries in the surrounding towns and Bambi and Bella were finally able to meet.
They had the opportunity to dance together and have a good time, which they would always remember.
But unfortunately, when they gave each other the last hug before finishing the act, they crumbled little by little until only crumbs.
And this is how this tragic story of love at first sight, but impossible, ends.

The Chocolate curve

When my parents were young (they told me), there was a truck going down from La Cabrera to Torrelaguna. It was loaded with chocolate!

Those curves were so dangerous and the trucks couldn´t go down.

But the truck went there and on the most dangerous curve it overturned.

The two towns found it out and people went there with boxes to collect chocolate. And from that day on, it was called the chocolate curve.

Then I started to think and create my own surprise chocolate bonbons. Each bonbon had its own surprise flavour.
